the fiscal cliff. we want to check u.s. futures to see how investors are anticipating the last trading session of 2012. investors seem to be optimistic that a deal will be struck. you can see the dow futures as well as the s&p 500 futures are looking up. rich, there are several things to discuss. is there any chance of a deal tonight or everybody packed up and gone home? >> everybody has packed up and gone home except for joe biden and mitch mcconnell, they are having multiple conversations and these folks are running point on negotiations, harry reid who was negotiating has left the capital. so those negotiations have died throughout the remainder of today or earlier today. you have the vice president and senate minority leader. the last time they finished the deal the tax deal we got a couple years ago that extended tax rates, cut the social security tax by a couple points. all of that ongoing right now and that is really the last hope we have to get something done before the fiscal cliff. >> does the minority leader and the senate, do they concur with the house of representatives. b

, was not on camera but from the local authorities who also told us they have plenty of evidence inside and outside and that some of the inside evidence includes weapons in addition to the three that we knew about yesterday. we knew yesterday that he had a glock and another pistol and a rifle that they found in his car. they said there are more firearms inside. they also said there are some vehicles outside, including the suspect's vehicle, that they want to look at. and something else that was brand-new, the last update we got from the authorities was that they now say it appears that to gain access to the school, the gunman shot out the glass next to the front door. we talked to this morning another teacher from another school in the district who's familiar with the security procedures here. she says as soon as school starts, if anybody wants to get in, including a parent, they need to basically appear on a camera that then presents their image to someone in the front office and then someone in the front office needs to buzz the door like in an apartment building to let them in. and then that per

for sprint which is the number three u.s. wireless carrier. now, they will have full ownership of the spectrum. that is some good news for sprint. you are seeing that clear wire is selling off the news. lori: president obama and house speaker john boehner meeting just hours ago. our rich and thin was first to report this news of the meeting. rich, the house speaker seems to be caving on tax hikes, at least a little bit. rich: they have been discussing the ratio with a 121 ratio. they are talking a trillion dollar spending cuts. higher rates on amount of more than $1 million curbs on deductions congress would work out next year. democrats and republicans are also talking about continuing the tax cuts. increasing the debt ceiling is a major sticking point for republicans. they will want more spending cuts to raise the debt ceiling again. republicans say changes to entitlements must be included to get any deal through congress. there is progress, though there are significant obstacles remaining. the president will need at least half of them on the board to get something to congres

doocy is like for us with the latest developments. good morning, peter. >>peter: good morning. very sad to report that the medical examiner on this has been working throughout the night inside sandy hook elementary school. the last update last night is that authorities hope to possibly identify all of the bodies inside by today. six adults and 20 children were killed when a 20-year-old mass murders, adam lanza showed up after 9:30 and perhaps hired 100 shots in two police toll -- pistols into two classrooms. students did their best to shield their students' i didn'ts and we heard how devastating the human toll was on the first 9-1-1 call. many students heard chromes through the intercom system before they were evacuated to a nearby firehouse. the firehouse is where most parents were instructed to show up yesterday to find out if their child had survived. last night, at a church vigil in the downtown area, not far from here, we talked to parents would said how hard it was not knowing but they expressed to us they felt truly pleased and everyone we spoke to said they know someone who was
